Man Dies on Roller Coaster at Universal Orlando Epic Universe

Death on Stardust Racers Roller Coaster As Yet Unexplained

On September 18, 2025, a guest at Universal’s Epic Universe theme park died while riding on the Stardust Racers roller coaster. According to news reports, the man, who was in his 30s, was found to be unresponsive after riding on the roller coaster. He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy performed by a medical examiner found that the cause of death was "blunt impact," although the report did not state which part of the man’s body was injured or provide any other details.

While the investigation into the death is still ongoing, there are numerous possible reasons why the man may have been killed. A blow to the head by a part of the roller coaster that had come loose or another falling object may have resulted in fatal brain trauma. Malfunctioning restraints may have prevented him from being secured into his seat correctly, causing trauma to his body when being thrown around by the force of the ride. Further investigation will be needed to determine whether the ride broke down or the injuries occurred due to negligence by the park or its employees.

Epic Universe opened in May of 2025, and it is one of several parks that are part of Universal Orlando Resort. Since the attractions at Epic Universe are new, they may not yet be fully tested, and unexpected safety issues may not yet have been discovered. Unlike smaller parks or attractions, Universal Orlando and other major theme parks in Florida are not required to receive inspections from state government officials. Instead, these parks are responsible for conducting their own inspections.
